CISPATA PROJECT

One of the greatest achievements CROCOL has attained together with other organizations takes place at the Bahía de Cispatá, located in the region of Córdoba - Colombia.

Our economic contributions and adequate on-site support have contributed to the change in mentality of the residents of the community of Cispatá, who have now become conservationists of the Crocodylus Acutus (American Crocodile) specie and its habitat.

This has allowed the release of nearly 4.000 hatchlings, the collection and incubation of 1.500 eggs of the specie per year and the re-introduction of the hatchlings to the bay.

We highlight that in benefit of the community, the change of appendixthat was made official by CITES on april 4, 2017 has been achieved.

Within CROCOL, we keep working to replicate the initiative in other colombian communities in need, in order to achieve what has been accomplished in Cispatá. The following links show the reach obtained with this project:

PLANT A TREE PROJECT

In CROCOL we recognize the importance of trees within our ecosystem because they:

  • Oxygenate and purify the air.
  • Regulate the environment.
  • Provide shade.
  • Act as habitat and refuge of wildlife.
  • Are used as barriers against wind.
  • Avoid soil erosion.
  • Maintain bodies of water.

Plant a Tree has become a reforestation project, by which we seek to contribute with the care and preservation of the environment by planting trees.

The initiative is been carried on and to date 30.000+ trees have been planted, among which we have local varieties such as Mangle Blanco (Laguncularia racemosa), Mangle Negro (Avicennia germinans) and Zaragoza (Phaseolus vulgaris). The reforested lands are located in the municipality of Turbana, in the region of Bolivar in Colombia.

On the site you will also be able to evidence our genuine concern for following domestic and international regulations, specified by the different regulatory bodies within the industry as well as the contributions we have made for the improvement of both the environment and the community in which we are located.

In CROCOL we characterize ourselves for fulfilling current legal regulations required by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in Colombia and the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora - CITES.
